Apple’s September event witnessed the release of the highly anticipated iPhone 14 series, as well as a new Watch Series 8, Watch Ultra, and the next generation of AirPods Pro. Apple hosted the iPhone launch in person at the Steve Jobs Theater in Cupertino, California, with CEO Tim Cook delivering the keynote address.
While the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus are powered by the last year’s A15 Bionic chipset, the Pro models are powered by the current Apple Bionic A16 SoC. Apple is upgrading the camera and adding safety features such as crash detection. There is no SIM tray in iPhone 14 series in the United States.
The smartphone also brings emergency SOS through satellite connectivity. The function will be available in the United States and Canada, and it will be free with the iPhone 14 for two years. All of the phones also include a crash-detection capability that will immediately dial 911 if a user is unconscious or unable to reach their iPhone.
Meanwhile, the iPhone 14 Pro has a new ‘dynamic island’ notch that changes depending on your activity or the app you’re using. When the music app is active, for example, the notch will display a different type of animation. The main camera on the iPhone 14 Pro is 48MP.
The iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max will go on sale on September 16. The iPhone 14 Plus will be available from October 7.
